Mhong Batik, handmade cloth of Mhong people from the previous to current time, it reflect their wisdom, lifestyle, and culture by bringing their surroundings to create the perfect craft.
Mhong handicraft, Mhong batik and hemp woven, inspires us to establish our own unique creation.
At current day, art of hand writing with indigo wax resist dye is gradually disappear.
Only elder M'hong people remain creating this artwork, whereas the new generations are less paying attention to that local wisdom.
We are realized to the value of M'hong art.
We, therefore, want to join the community and conserve the local wisdom of handwriting with wax resist dye and create jobs to the elders for their better life.
Drawing and Equipment
Creating pattern on to textile, Mhong people dissolve bee wax and control temperature by putting hot charcoal and ash.
Then draw 2-3 cm table pattern on to the textile.
After that using Tjanting, wax drawing equipment of Mhong. They soak Tjanting into the hot wax and paint on the textile to create various pattern.
Mhong style, pattern creation is based on straight line and geometry.
